Apps

Apps are very hot right now. We have created apps (software) for mobile phones in nearly 10 years. In the beginning there was Java games and WAP (early mobile web) pages for mobile phones. Today most phones are enabled to parse regular web pages but there's still important to create sites that conforms to the shortcomings of a small mobile display as well as limited network speed. The interests for app is that it enables you to take use of all great features in the mobile phone - i.e. GPS, compass, always connected. Whatever solution you're interested in we'd love to guide you to the solution that fits you and your company's needs best.

Native vs Hybrid

Native Application are complete applications that are installed on the mobile phone. They can take advantage of pretty much all the functionality in the users smart phone. This may for example help your customers find the store closest to the user at any given time. If designed properly an app may also work perfectly even without access to mobile or wi-fi access. The one negative aspect of a native app is that it's designed exlusively for a specific operating system (iOs, Android, Windows) so to make sure all your customers can use it you'll need to develop several apps.

Hybrid apps are programs that launched in a similar manner as native apps, but the content it displays are mainly regular web content. This gives the user the feel of a native app, but is a lot easily to port to a multitude of operating systems. The big advantage is that it seriously decreases development time (i.e. your development cost) if you're looking to develop for more than one operating system. However, this comes at the cost of some limitations on what features you will be able to use in your app.

Webapps

Though it's probably readable on your phone, we suggest that you consider creating a mobile version of your regular site. The way your web site will look on a phone will differ a lot from the way it looks on a large computer screen. There's also the difference in user interface to consider - a site easily manageable with a mouse will perhaps prove hopeless to navigate with a touch interface. We have the technology and knowledge to help you separate mobile users from desktop users and present content specifically made for the user's device. All mobile phones have access to a web page, but one disadvantage in regard to an app is that they will not be posted on an equally well-used marketplace (like the AppStore or Android Market Place). This means that you must use SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for your mobile site to have it climb in search rankings. However, through the development of HTML5, there are great opportunities today to make your mobile home as beautiful and easy to navigate as a native app. You can even get some access to the GPS functionality.
