In the medical and dental sectors, missed appointments are common occurences. This can be because a patient is feeling better and does not realise that the time allocated for his or her appointment can be used to treat another patient. Another reason can be that the patient has simply forgotten the appointment. This subsequently results in loss of the time set aside for examination and treatment. Staff time and expensive equipment are not optimally utilised, which naturally has a negative impact on hospital revenue and degree of service. Studies show that more than five percent of patients miss appointments for examinations or treatment. To counter this, LINK has developed an automatic service for patient reminders, integrated with the appointment journals in hospital patient systems. Reminders are sent out in plenty of time prior to appointments as text or voice messages to phones, or as e-mail messages.
